Ford Motor Company will finally release the product of their collaboration with hip hop DJ Funkmaster Flex and U.S. body kit specialist 3dCarbon.
Ford will make the upcoming 2007 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas this November as the stage for the world debut of the 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition. This special edition vehicle model is equipped with a wide array of exclusive features and design cues from Funkmaster Flex and 3dCarbon. The vehicle will also simultaneously roll out in Ford dealer showrooms all over the U.S. during its presentation in 2007 SEMA Show. Only 1,000 limited units of the 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition will be produced.
For customers who already own Ford Expedition models, they can also customize their vehicle with the Expedition body kit made by 3dCarbon available in Ford dealers. This is a part of 3dCarbon and Ford Official Licensed Product program that will be launched early next year.
At the previous New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), Ford Motor Company announced that it will collaborate with DJ Funkmaster Flex to create a special edition Ford Expedition model. Ford and Funkmaster Flex selected 3dCarbon to design and create the body kit needed for the vehicle. According to Funkmaster Flex, Quality body kits are essential to any customization. They need to be expressive and distinctive without compromising drivability.
The 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition comes with a host of features and exclusive styling from Funkmaster Flex and 3dCarbon. Outside, the 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition features an aggressive and bold styling highlighted by 4-piece body kit designed by 3dCarbon, front air dam, side skirts, rear lower skirt with trailer hitch cover, Magnaflow stainless steel cat back with stainless steel exhaust tip, aggressively styled front bumper with integrated factory fog lamps, and fender vents (available at 3dCarbon dealers and distributors).
3dCarbon’s 4-piece body kit and other accessories is made from high quality polyurethane manufactured and molded through high-pressure injection technology.
The 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition also comes with sundial window tinting and one exterior color scheme – White Sand Tri Coat. To complete the aggressive exterior appearance, the vehicle will be equipped with 24-inch NC forged 3 Piece machined aluminum wheels covered with 24-inch Pirelli Scropion Asymmetrico tires.
Inside, the 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition retains the standard features of Ford Expedition short wheelbase Limited model, backed by additional features like the Katzin Black leather interior trim and Invison head rest DVD monitors.
At the heart of the 3dCarbon / Funkmaster Flex Special Edition Expedition is a 5.4-liter SOHC 3V V8 engine coupled with a 6 speed manual transmission. The vehicle’s chassis is also lowered by about 1.5 inches, through Eibach suspension and Eiback springs.
Watch out for this model when it rolls out in Ford dealerships this coming November. 3dCarbon and Funkmaster Flex should also create a tuning program for Volvo models equipped with quality Volvo parts.
